Continuation of
St. Valentine’s Day

This day is associated with love which is one of the greatest forces on earth. It is not an emotion, affected by the sub-conscious mind, but is a spontaneous pure reaction from the heart. It is the power of love, which causes one person to wish happiness for another and take pleasure in their well-being.

A beneficial energy (love) is directed towards the other person. As this energy flows through our own body first, it also enhances

our own health.

It is love that people search and strive for. It can be given freely, yet there seems to be a lack of it! What we seem to have forgotten, is that, the more we love, the more love we have, to give. And the more love we give, the more we feel loved.

Swami encourages us to “love all, serve all”. Even God Himself, who gives us all that we need, only asks for one thing in return, and that is

to love him, and to love all others. Swami loves us so much, and devotees travel thousands of miles to see him, to speak to him and to touch his holy feet when in

his presence, one feels pure, unconditional love, more than that of a million mothers. It is this pure love, that we want more of and that we keep going back for. How fortunate we are, to know that

God loves us so much!  Although Valentine’s Day may have gone, telling someone that you care and that you love them, should not

be restricted to just one day of

the year. Everyday can be

Valentine’s Day.

Small gestures from the heart, like smiling, helping someone and doing something to make someone else happy, are all acts of love. So let’s do our best this week to speak to everyone with kindness, compassion and love.

Spread love everywhere you go: first of all in your own house. Give love to your children, to your wife or husband, to a next-door neighbour. …Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness; kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness

in your smile, kindness in your

warm greeting.

Text Box: Book Review
ANYATHA SHARANAM NASTHI

This is a book detailing the experiences of a devotee who has been with Swami since the 1940's.  It is one of the first books to tell of those golden times. The author describes the proximity devotees during those times enjoyed. They would literally spend the full 24hrs with Swami. When the devotees wake up (around 10 - 30 people), they would sing suprabhatam directly to
Swami, i.e. in His presence  They would then sit together for breakfast after which Swami may go out with all the boys and girls to Chitravatti river.  In the evening, they would have bhajans without any time limit.
Bhajans could go on for 4-5 hours (past midnight).  During the bhajan session Swami would sing several songs, mainly taken from those sung by Saints and great devotees of the past.

The author describes some really unique experiences, e.g. when Swami made the Sun rise during the evening, then he made the moon rise and finally he showed the 3rd eye to His devotees.  The book humourously describes the mischievous nature of Swami as well.
In those days, Swami used to play many pranks and these are a joy to hear and read about.

Overall, I highly recommend this book to every SAI devotee for it describes the multi-faceted nature of Swami.  I am sure that once you start reading this book, it will be difficult for you to put it down.

it will be difficult for you to put it

 down.
