Announcements for Sunday 20th December 2015
1. Chennai Flood Relief You might be aware of the natural disaster
in Chennai, and surrounding areas that have been
paralyzed due to flooding from a record rainfall
that has cut off more than 3 million people from
basic services for days. It is reported that
thousands have been forced to leave their
submerged homes, offices and schools, and nearly
300 people have died.
The Sathya Sai organisation is currently
offering food to about 25,000 people each day.
Blankets, bedding, food items, clothing and
medicines are most urgently needed and are being
distributed by local Sathya Sai organisations in
Tamil Nadu.
After the cessation of the rains, Sathya Sai
volunteers will be engaging in rehabilitation of
the victims of flooding. In this phase of relief
activities, building materials, medicines and
food items would be required in large numbers to
help restore normalcy to the lives of our
displaced brothers and sisters.
The Sathya Sai International Organisation, via
its Disaster Relief Committee, is coordinating
further international participation in providing
sustained relief and rehabilitation.
Let us pray to our beloved Lord Sai,
collectively in all our Sai Centres, to shower
His Divine Blessings on all those affected in
Tamil Nadu by this natural disaster and to
alleviate their suffering. Through His Grace,
let us serve those in need with humility and
dedication.
In continuation of these efforts, we request and
encourage all the members of our Sai family in
UK to come forward and participate in these
efforts in a spirit of oneness, and in love and
service to our beloved Bhagawan.
For anyone wishing to voluntarily contribute
funds towards the relief efforts led by the
Organisation please see the information desk on
how you can make your contribution either by
cheque or directly into the Trust account. Let
us also remember the thousands of people
effected by the floods in the UK and pray that
the Lord helps alleviate their suffering.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Two thousand years ago, when narrow pride and
thick ignorance defiled mankind, Jesus came as
the embodiment of Love and compassion and lived
among men, holding forth the highest ideals of
life. You must pay attention to the lessons he
elaborated in the various stages of his life. 'I
am the Messenger of God,' he declared, first.
Yes. Each individual has to accept that role and
live as examples of Divine Love and Charity.

THOUGHT FOR
THE DAY
Every human being has
to develop three qualities: love for God, fear
of sin, and morality in society...There are
three spiritual practices by which love for God,
fear of sin, and morality in society can be
developed. They are devotion to God (bhakthi),
the path of wisdom (jnana), and detachment
(vairagya). Activity (karma) is a natural and
essential attribute of the physical body. Only
when the body undertakes good activity will the
mind function well. When the mind is sound, love
for God can be developed. Thus, devotion,
wisdom, and detachment are interlinked with love
for God, fear of sin, and morality in society.
They are like the three blades of a fan. Only
when the three blades rotate can we have
refreshing air; otherwise we feel uncomfortable.
